Acting and Improv – 4th thru 7th – Saturdays 12:45 to 1:45 – Winter 2026

Acting, Improv, Writing, and Directing (grades 3 – 5)
Scene & Heard: Where imagination meets transformation

Taught by Award-Winning Director and Playwright, Jill Jaysen, students will explore acting and directing according to Stanislavski’s principles, while being guided to write original scenes. They will cast themselves and/or their fellow classmates, while gaining hands-on experience, co-directing their scenes with Jill. This class will be an invaluable experience for all participants, resulting in a heightened sense of self-awareness, self-esteem, academic confidence, problem solving, and collaborative teamwork. Each child will gain insightful perspective from every angle and cultivate stronger writing, public speaking, and social skills. Scene and Heard will culminate in a performance for family and friends that speaks from the heart! Students will also receive a book of their scenes to take home with them. 

Saturdays from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm
12-week session: Jan 10, 17, 24, 31; Feb 7, (no class Feb 14), Feb 21, 28; March 7, 14, 21, 28; April 4.

Fee: $450

Classes will be held in the choir room on the top floor of Saugatuck Congregational Church, between the Playhouse and downtown Westport: 245 Post Road East, Westport (enter through the back entrance and head up to the top floor).
