Triple Threat Independent Film Project – Summer 2024 - Teen Program
TEEN PROGRAM – AGES 13 TO 19
NOTE: We prefer payment by check for this program so please reach out by email to secure your spot: triplethreatacademyct@gmail.com
Triple Threat Academy’s Independent Film Project (IFP) brings Hollywood to Westport, giving a small group of participants the opportunity to experience making an independent short film. During this two-week program, students learn all aspects of filmmaking, both acting in front of the camera and apprenticing in various roles behind the camera with a professional crew. Each cast member will receive professional footage for their acting reel. Triple Threat's 2022 short film, "Lux Freer," won numerous awards on the film fest circuit (including Best USA Film and Best Director in NY's Cinematography Awards) and made its world premiere at Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival, where many Academy-Award-winning films have been discovered; screened at the prestigious Dances With Films in L.A. and NY (bravo to fellow DWF filmmaker for their recent Oscar win for "Red, White, and Blue"), and won Outstanding Narrative Short Film at the Ridgefield Independent Film Fest. Our 2023 films are hitting the fest circuit now and the student-written and directed "Ocean's 14" has already nabbed several awards.

During the first week, students will do extensive character development and rehearsals with director Cynthia Gibb; participate in table reads; learn about screenwriting and how to read a call sheet; help conceive looks and gather costumes, props, hair and makeup items; and benefit from an illustrious line-up of guest speakers. Previous guests include A Million Little Things star Stephanie Szostak, L.A. screenwriter Michael Jamin (King of the Hill, Just Shoot Me, Beavis & Butthead), producer Andrew Wilk (multi Emmy-winning executive producer—PBS's Live From Lincoln Center and Stars on Stage series, Nat Geo—and former COO of Sony Music), professional makeup artist Kathleen Fillion, and our very own Golden-Globe nominated actress Cynthia Gibb (Fame, Gypsy, Youngblood) + input from short film cast members Jamie Mann (Netflix's Country Comfort), Cameron Mann (Mare of Easttown, For Life, New Amsterdam, Daredevil), and Natalia Mann (A California Christmas, City Lights, The Passage) on what it's like to be a professional child/teen actor.
